Exploring the Sellaronda Alta Badia: A Ski Circuit Through the Dolomites!
The Sellaronda Alta Badia is a stunning 40-kilometer ski circuit around the Sella massif in the Dolomites, connecting four valleys: Val Gardena, Val di Fassa, Alta Badia, and Arabba. It offers breathtaking views of iconic peaks like Sassolungo and Marmolada. The route is suitable for intermediate skiers, with well-maintained pistes and plenty of mountain huts for breaks. Skiers can complete the circuit in one day, either clockwise or counterclockwise, and experience the beauty of the Dolomites while enjoying local Ladin culture.
Something Very Special: History on Skis
The Val Badia ski area is home to perhaps the most famous ski tour in the Alps: the Gebirgsjägertour. On this tour, you cover about 80 kilometers around the Col di Lana, the symbolic mountain of World War I, using lifts and skiing. In the mountain's rocks, you can find trenches, fortifications, and forts that were built a century ago during the mountain warfare between Austria-Hungary and Italy. Along the way, you'll encounter well-known Dolomite peaks such as the Sassongher, the Cinque Torri, and the Marmolada. This day-long tour takes approximately 7-8 hours and should ideally be started early in the morning. The early start is definitely worth it!
Our heart’s journey, let’s go on a ski tour!
Taking one step after the other with calm and mindfulness. Always in the same rhythm. All around, the silence of the untouched natural world of the Puez-Geisler Nature Park. It’s like an automatic switch from hectic to deep relaxation. The ascent becomes a form of meditation, before the descent in the powder snow triggers the adrenaline rush. Directly from our hotel, you start your journey into the winter wonderland. Narrow ravines on the north faces of the mountains like Piza de Antersasc and Piza de Medalghes offer various degrees of steepness and welcome both professionals and near-professionals. The narrow passages between the rocks of the Puez group and the Capuziner are very popular. Of course, the Peitlerkofel also offers everything a freeride enthusiast could wish for!
